Stone age crafts made in Hayfield
Our crafted stones are inspired by the human journey through time. Each stone is unique and hand cut with pictograms and petroglyphs from the cultures of our ancestors. From the first evidence of adornment and cave painting in the upper paleolithic (circa 30,000 BCE) as the range of fully modern humans expanded following the ‘out of Africa’ migrations. Innovation continued into the Mesolithic (middle stone age) where migratory bands of hunter gatherers knapped fine specialised tools from flint (microliths). Around 6000 years ago the Neolithic (new stone age) revolution swept aside the hunter gatherers, bringing a sophisticated culture of symbolism and cosmology. This continued into the Bronze age of the alchemists when people first earned to smelt metal from rock. Our inspiration explores the subsequent ages of iron to the ascendancy of the Vikings.
All profits, after tax, from our stone age crafts will go towards supporting ongoing care for a relative with chronic mobility issues caused by cancer and subsequent heart failure. For care amounting to in excess of 30 hours each week, the carer receives no welfare assistance whatsoever.
