ABOUT RANGER EXPEDITIONS

“Founded in 2011, our vision for Ranger Expeditions takes inspiration from guided safari and trekking experiences. We bring together all the ingredients of an uplifting and memorable adventure for you: A sense of journey, camaraderie, enjoyment of nature, wildlife, wilderness and mountains.  Our experiences are far from just guided walks. We take care to ensure our clients feel well looked after and part of something special. At the same time, we strive to offer the best possible value, making adventure and enjoyment accessible to as many folks as we can” – Stu Westfield

Stu is a professional Mountain Leader and expedition trekking guide, based in the Peak District at the foot of Kinder Scout. He is a member of the Mountain Training Association, with a lifetime’s experience ranging from hills and mountains in the UK to across the African continent. A former aerospace engineer, Stu found his life vocation in sharing adventures. As recognition of many years teaching and leading in the outdoor sector, in 2023 he was awarded Chartered Geographer (CGeog) by the Royal Geographical Society.  He has also studied archaeology with Oxford University. With a deep interest in pre-history and ancient living skills, he leads bushcraft and other experiential learning experiences at The Peak Centre in Edale. In East Africa he has guided clients to the summit of Kilimanjaro, along Namibia’s Skeleton Coast, wildlife treks and on many other remote wilderness journeys. He is also the race organiser for Ranger Ultras trail running events.
